The context
The distributor recruits across several branches. An induction handbook exists, but everyday guidance is scattered across sales procedures, logistics instructions and HR documents. Managers fill the gaps in different ways. The company wants a common starting point that reflects each employee's role, branch and authorized access to internal information.
The problem to solve
The same practical questions recur in the first few weeks, often while the assigned mentor is dealing with an urgent task. Company-wide guidance does not cover every local variation. New starters need to understand which rule applies and who can confirm it.
The proposed mission
- 01
Define an induction pathway for one role and gather authorized documents, identifying shared rules, local variations and the people responsible for each piece of information in the corpus.
- 02
Provide source-linked answers and navigation guidance appropriate to the new starter's access rights, directing them to their mentor when the available documentation does not support a clear answer.
- 03
Have HR and managers review recurring questions, then retain approved answers in versioned reference sheets with a named owner and an explicit audience for their continued use.
Intended benefits
- Practical guidance that is easier to find during the first weeks in role.
- Mentoring conversations focused on situations requiring a personal explanation or managerial judgment.
- An induction knowledge base maintained through reviewed questions from successive new starters.
How to measure the outcome
- Questions resolved with a source
- Mentor referrals by topic
- New starter satisfaction
The baseline and objectives are defined during scoping, then compared with pilot results.
